• The deal is that you get  3 songs or approximately 15 minutes on stage.

• Please tune up and be ready in advance of going on stage. If you need a stool or chair, tell the host when you book in.

• Keyboards are welcome, just plug into the PA system. We have some cables to connect it to the PA but please, always travel with the leads you know that fit.

• Be a good audience member, you don't you want other people in the room to distract you, so don’t distract them with loud talking etc. remember,  at some point we were all  beginners and somebody gave us the support to grow our confidence.

• Most of all, have fun!

Thank you.

Tips on using a microphone

If you are new to Open Mic events you may not have used a microphone before, here are a few tips to help you sound great.

Always do a sound check before you start singing, our sound guy will check levels for you.

If there is no sound, look for a small switch on the mic to turn it on.

Keep your head up. Never lower your head towards a fixed mic, if it’s too low or high adjust the mic stand.

Don’t turn your head away from a mic – keep it in front of you at all times.

Try to keep the mic the same distance from your mouth and sing or speak just slightly above the grill to avoid ‘pah’ sounds that come from words beginning with P.

Don't tap the mic to see if its on, just speaking softly into it will tell you.
